Have a Mice day!!

Funny tid-bit of info for the day... We now have mice in my office. But not your average, run-of-the-mill-cheese-eatin MICE. No, not here. We have FANCY mice. Our mice prefer Godiva Chocolate and Jelly Belly jelly beans, and that gourmet popcorn that you get on the holidays. Yes, our mice are spoiled. Remember that rant about the ten tons of candy that people pass out on the holidays? Ya, well, little old mouse-y decided to take care of all that sugary goodness for me. Thank you??? I do, probably, owe him a big fat thank you for that extra 10 pounds he probably just saved my hips. I prefer to NOT have little bitty rodents scurrying around behind my back, but if they're takin one for the team and eating all that crap for me... well, heck, I can't be too mad at em. Just please, stay out of site. (out of site, out of mind)

I do wonder how long those little mice and I have been sharing the same popcorn.

Ew. Nevermind.

AnyWHO.. the office has been TERRIBLY slow today, giving me time to even NOTICE that we have mice. It also gave me time to finish wrapping a few gifts, read the paper, catch up on my archeology news, organize 3 bags of beanie-babies that were donated (which was probably the most fun I'll have all week), and fiddle-faddle on the internet.(check out my internet shenanigans HERE)

Friggin FOCUS Woman!!!

Scott and I had a conversation this morning where I truly felt like he knew who I was. I think we were discussing what it would be like if I were to join an arobics class or something. How I probably couldn't survive. At first I was about to get mad, like "whaddya mean I wouldn't make it in an arobics class!!?? You callin me Fat or somethin!?" But that's not what he meant. He meant that I would probably stop in the middle and go chase a butterfly or stop to doodle stick figures in the dust on the window sill. I am easily distracted. So distracted that I don't even quite remember our conversation because I was most likely distracted by something else while we were talking.
(*side note: in the middle of writing this.. I.. guess what?.. got distracted and then went to lunch. Big shocker.*)

Anyways.. the point of this epiphany of mine is while trying hard to focus, I realized that my entire life is based on multi-tasking. It is in my blood. Very rarely am I just doing ONE thing. Like right now... I am typing, answering phones, looking up the correct spelling of "epiphany", playing with a paper clip, and pretending to look busy all at the same time! Before I cut the nasty smoking habit, you could very regularly find me in my car changing gears, smoking, singing, eating, steering, AND changing lanes. Now I just do all of those things minus the smoking. ;)
Dangerous? Probably.

Anywho.. this week's goal is to focus. (I start weekly goals on Wednesdays. Yah. Real affective.) Be it through meditation, starting a simple project.. whatever. I WILL try my hardest to concentrate and devote my attention to one thing at a time. Wish me luck!

Was it head trauma??

Daniel Nevins. Nevens? Dan Nevins.??
About ten minutes ago, my brain alerted me of this name - Daniel Nevins. Yah, okay brain.. what about him? Wait.. who is he?? Leave me alone Daniel Nevins!!! What did I do to deserve being tormented by you!!??! I really just want to get back to reading my magazine! I tried to block it out.. but for some reason.. that name would not leave me alone until I Googled it. (Yes, Google has become the solution for everything. Especially lingering thoughts.)

A-HA! Sure enough, he does exist. Daniel Nevins!! I know now! He is the amazing artist whose paintings Scott and I ran across MONTHS ago, in Asheville. Should I give my brain a cookie or something? Or, should it be punished for taking nearly 2 months to remind me of this guy?! I mean, really, what's the hold up!!? Do I not give you plenty of green tea? Was it head trauma? Why do you just now decide to report to duty?! I am somewhat surprised that it resurfaced at all. Most of the time it just erases stuff clean without asking. Either way, thanks brain! - I owe ya one. (really, though, please try to be more prompt in the future)
Seriously, Daniel Nevin's paintings are beautiful! Definately, surely, positively, absolutely check them out. (before your brain deletes it)

Did I mention it's FREE!!!??!

You know what I LOVEEEE LOVE LOVE!!?! (What, Catrina, what do you love?) I LOVE free stuff! Free anything, really. I like free massages, free samples, FREEdom of speech, Free money.. (I could really live without those fabulous Free Lectures from the mom.. but hey.. life's not perfect) But, seriously though, I'm betting that there are other people out there like me.. sort of like my new 3 year old friend, KiKi, who was amazed at Halloween that someone gave her a FREE candybar. She was in awe at the kindness. So friends, here's to all of you out there that have that touch of Catrina-ism in you! Enjoy: 1. If you like tea as much as I do.. then you'll surely love Yogi Tea. They've decided to hook us all up with an assortment of FREE (yes, that's right, FREE) Samples. If you don't like tea, then please, I urge you to order some FREE TEA anyways. Why? Because it's FREE!! (Did I mention the "no money" thing? Yeah... FREE!!!)

2. Another FREE thing, which is quite strange that we pay for it in the first place.. is FREE SMELLS!! Haha.. really, free candle samples. Actually, they just send you one of those tart things, that you put in a tart warmer.. but hey, FREE SMELLS are pretty cool. So, if you are interested in smelling some homemade apple pie, fresh linens, or pine cones.. I would definately check out what this chick is offering. FREE SMELLS HERE!!!

3. Side note- While searching the web for free stuff.. I ran across a list of free stuff that I thought I would spare you from. Ex: FREE LAXATIVES! FREE ALGAE!!(<-- I had no idea!) And my personal favorite: Free "Fixed Needle Safety Syringes"! WAHOO!!!

4. Okay, wow.. I have lost faith in the internets. I was really hoping that my intense love for free stuff would generate some actual COOL free stuff.. but the only thing I could come up with was Free TEA and Free SMELLS. My apologies. I will surely try harder next time.

The search continues...

I am continuing my search for interesting bloggers today.. The weirder the better! Bring it on, BLOGGER!
* Firstly, I would like to introduce you to Ricardo the Art Aficonado:
Ricardo is one of the many dogs that you can meet on the blog entitled Bankok Street Dogs Yes, that's right, there is an entire blog devoted to these furry neighborhood friends. Somehow, this blogger finds the history of each of these dogs, and brings their stories to life. Quite remarkable, if I do say so myself.

*Another interesting blog I stumbled across was Things Look Like Things. Hmmm.. yes.. sometimes they do... I cautiously opened this link, thinking... there has to be more to this phrase.. but no.. Things really do Look. Like. Things. Enjoy.

I must run for now, the dentist office is calling my name. (Literally, they just called) Gotta go get a cavity filled, then come back to work to drool all over the telephone. Sweet.

The exciting world of Blogging....

So, I spent this morning wandering through the "blog" world.. My mission: Find something interesting. I don't know if "interesting" would be the feeling that I came up with, but definately.... unique. The internet is full of strange and unusual people. Period. Here are some of the blog topics that I ran across today:

* A day-to-day blog of things found in pockets (yes, that's right, I said "pockets") Items included: smooshed cigarette pack, KFC wet napkin, miniature bobble-head Jesus.

* "Cheerful Scoop" was a pretty neat blog I ran across.. for those of you who are exhausted by the depressing day-to-day news.. this woman finds the feel good stories in the daily paper, and posts for all to see. By the way- Ebay is now banning all sales of Ivory! I learned from Cheerful Scoop that Ebay and other online auctions have been unknowingly helping the criminals sell products from endangered animals. It is a great day to be an elephant.

* "Hi, I'm Eric. And these are my planes." Here's me... Ooookkaaaayyy.???.. Yes, Eric does indeed have some planes... over 400 of them! Pretty cool, eh? Ya, if they weren't all completely made out of PAPER! Yes, there is in fact an entire blog devoted to these 400 paper air planes. Eric, please, please, please get a life. For anyone who doesn't believe that this site exists.. check it out here.

* Google Maps Mania. Yes, I too can admit that Google Maps is addicting, creepy, and pretty damn cool... BUT, seriously? This guy has an obsession. From tracking the Eastern Congo Conflict to watching a marathon to catching a Christmas parade all via Google Maps... Yes, I do believe that this guy needs some help.

* "The Science of Battlestar Galactica" Hmm.. oookkaayy.... sure... whatever floats yur boat..

* Oo! Also, did you know that there's an entire blog devoted to using the lowercase L. (A lowercase L looks an aweful lot like the letter I) Apparently, it really bugs the crap out of this chick.. but to me it was quite amusing. Example:
To check out more of these quirky mispellings.. CIICK HERE!

Blog-World.. thank you for making my Monday a little bit more tolerable. I owe ya one.

Let's make crafts!!!!!

Feelin crafty today...I should Knit! Wait.. I should LEARN to knit first. Okay, I'll bake something!! Yah, the only baking ingredient in the house is Olive Oil. (and the only reason I have that is because Mom's an Olive Oil Rep.) Scrapbooking... I like scrapbooks. That would be fun. I've always wanted to quilt. I'm thinking that a trip to Jo-ann's is in the making for tonight... Certainly, I should impulsively buy some tedious craft project that I will most likely never finish. Yep. That's what I'll do. :) Hey! And I'll be helping the economy with my frivolous spending habits! Hooray for $700,000,000,000 bail-outs! I am part of the solution!! Only $699,999,999,980 more to go!
