A long time comin'....

This blog goes out to all my homies!
Haha. Not really. It just goes out to Scott. I didn't quite get a chance to tell him how proud I am of him. He has accomplished so much in so little time.. and it is inspiring to be a part of it all.

Let me start from the beginning. Scott loves music. We all love music, right? But, Scott has a beautiful passion for music and an even more beautiful talent for music. It is something that he breathes and sings and plays and works so hard to perfect. Amazing.

I am so proud of how he has embraced every opportunity in these past few months, and has really taken advantage of each blessing. For example, in the last 3 months Scott has: Opened for Katie Herzig and Matthew Perryman Jones, and Jamie McLean, competed in the Nationally acclaimed Eddies Attic Shootout, finished a 5 song EP and scheduled a CD release for January 09', completed a press kit (which will ensure many many gigs in the near future), not to mention MOVED into a house with MMWWAA, got a band together, AND cooked an entire Thanksgiving feast for a dozen people. All of this while still working a full-time job that involves saw dust, harsh chemicals, random cuts and bruises, and lots of muscles... and there's still plenty of time for him to beat me in 3 or 4 games of Scrabble, be a fabulous father to two fabulous boys, take random trips to strange cities, and win a camoflage guitar. Need I say more?

Proud is just a tiny little word that cannot describe how honored I am to know someone with such determination. I'm not quite sure how he pulls it all together, but he does. Every. Single. Time.

I have learned so much from him, and I am so unbelievably proud. If you would like to witness all of this hard work, first hand, please check out his website and comment on how fabulous he is. He truely deserves to hear it.

Friggin FOCUS Woman!!!

Scott and I had a conversation this morning where I truly felt like he knew who I was. I think we were discussing what it would be like if I were to join an arobics class or something. How I probably couldn't survive. At first I was about to get mad, like "whaddya mean I wouldn't make it in an arobics class!!?? You callin me Fat or somethin!?" But that's not what he meant. He meant that I would probably stop in the middle and go chase a butterfly or stop to doodle stick figures in the dust on the window sill. I am easily distracted. So distracted that I don't even quite remember our conversation because I was most likely distracted by something else while we were talking.
(*side note: in the middle of writing this.. I.. guess what?.. got distracted and then went to lunch. Big shocker.*)

Anyways.. the point of this epiphany of mine is while trying hard to focus, I realized that my entire life is based on multi-tasking. It is in my blood. Very rarely am I just doing ONE thing. Like right now... I am typing, answering phones, looking up the correct spelling of "epiphany", playing with a paper clip, and pretending to look busy all at the same time! Before I cut the nasty smoking habit, you could very regularly find me in my car changing gears, smoking, singing, eating, steering, AND changing lanes. Now I just do all of those things minus the smoking. ;)
Dangerous? Probably.

Anywho.. this week's goal is to focus. (I start weekly goals on Wednesdays. Yah. Real affective.) Be it through meditation, starting a simple project.. whatever. I WILL try my hardest to concentrate and devote my attention to one thing at a time. Wish me luck!

Truth-seekers

This is the email that Scott received this morning from his son, Spencer..

god is my life I love you god is even all I can be god makes love to us with his heart I love you by the way I am praying to god that you and you girl friend will be married for ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!you I love dad marryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy trina i love you dad

The preface to this email is the fact that Spencer has been asking us about God a lot lately. Sometimes I ask Scott, "where does he come up with these things??". But then I know the answer as clear as day.. from God. It is the only answer that I can come up with. He asks me questions about God that I haven't even asked myself. Spencer makes me want to find the answers, so that I can give them to him. He has turned me into a truth-seeker... He asked me the other day.. why did Jesus die on the cross? Why did they kill him? Who killed him? Why would they do that???! I'm still searching for the answers.... I will not be satisfied until I can give him the truth.

Vote-La-La

Today is election day. Yes, I'm sure that everyone on planet Earth has figured this out. Billboards, television, internet, yard signs, radio, telephone, word of mouth.. it is everywhere. Obama's face is everywhere. I still do not know who to vote for. I scwabble around.. back and forth. Who knows?? Maybe I will have decided before the polls close and Obama wins.

Meanwhile, back in Trina-la-la-land... Scott and I made a radical decision late Friday night. We were sitting outside on our patio, building a large fire in our fabulous firepit... we were just about to roast some marshmallows and await the trick-or-treaters.. when we get the bright idea to drive to Virginia. So, we packed up our stuff (Scott was so excited that he only packed his shirts--no pants), we counted our funds, and jumped in the car. Manassas, Virgina, HERE WE COME!! I failed to mention to any of my family that we'd be stopping by, but I figured that they wouldn't mind.. and they didn't. We had a very very fabulous weekend.. the drive was not as horendous as we had both anticipated. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and the family was generally thrilled at our surprise visit. I will admit, though, that I was a bit frazzled at the idea of Scott meeting everyone, but everything went better than planned. I'm pretty sure that the whole family approves.. which is a bonus. We decided that this was the first of many random surprise visits up North.
