Monday morning update

If you're wondering how my surgery went.. it went fabulously! I mean really, it was so great.. it was like not having surgery at ALL!

Okay, so.. I didn't have the surgery.

There were scheduling issues.. and well.. it got moved to another day. So, I'm all clear for a bit. I can hang on to my two favorite wisdom teeth just a wee bit longer. I cannot explain the feeling of relief that I experienced upon discovering this scheduling mis-hap.

To celebrate my teeth, I took them out to lots of different restaurants this weekend... and ate every crunchy food that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to eat. I fed them soda, THROUGH A STRAW.. (which is a total no-no if you have your wisdom teeth removed) Me and my teeth had a great weekend.

Oh.. and I had fun with the boys this weekend too. We hit up the Christmas Parade on Friday. Very cold. Very crowded. Very Christmasy. It would have been nice to actually SEE the parade through the 35,000 people there, but all was well anyways. Saturday was Christmasy too! It snowed like crazy for a few hours and dusted the trees and grass just enough for Spencer to make muddy snow balls and throw them at the house. Dirty.. but entertaining. Then we all went Christmas-tree hunting. We took the cop-out way and went to Lowe's. But, hey, give us a break. It was late and all the cutesy Christmas Tree shops were closed! Seriously, you would feel a little bad for us if you actually SAW the tree. It's a great tree.
Really. The tree is great.
The tacky-fied ornaments... not so much.
We love it though. It has "character". I'm just hoping that Santa helps us put actual gifts under it somehow.

Anyways.. I hope everyone had a great great weekend such as I did. And, if you still have your wisdom teeth.. take them out to lunch today and eat something crunchy!

Why, Thanks!

What a weekend. Seriously. Food, more food, family, Atlanta, Insane music competition, 3 sleepless nights, Chattanooga, laughing gas, alcohol, movies, oral surgery, house cleaning, and more food. It's beginnning to look a lot like Christmas!

Speaking of Christmas, I completely missed Black Friday. It is somewhat difficult to shop with no money. Did anyone else run across this particular dilema? Although, after talking with my friend, Mckenzie, I am somewhat relieved that I was too broke to shop. Her shopping experience was nothing short of disasterous. Apparently, Crowds + heat + skipping breakfast + excitement of shopping = McKenzie passing out in Wal-mart. After erupting in painful laughter, I felt sad that I had missed this moment in time. It could have been me though. Really. I do have a tendency to pass out at the most inconvenient of places. It's not a fun feeling. By the way, McKenzie, I am glad that you're okay. I was only sympathy-laughing at you. (hehehe. It's still kinda funny)

Anywho.. I am officially back to work today. For 2 days. Yes, then I'm off for another 4 days. But please, hold back the jealous thoughts and remember that I will be severely doped up and missing my two favorite wisdom teeth. They really are my favorites. Scott had two of his teeth removed yesterday. (yes, quite a ca-wink-ee-dink) He recooperated quite nicely.. even enjoyed beating me at Scrabble just a few hours afterwards. I said that the meds made him smarter, but really I let him win. ;)
I have a feeling that my surgery will not be quite as easy. I only have this feeling because everyone and their mother has reminded me of how terribly aweful it is to have your wisdom teeth yanked. Thank you, world, for making me more paranoid than usual. You will pay. :)

Oh! And just another quick reminder of just how crappy insurance is Scott (with NO insurance) had two teeth removed.. cost: $285.
Trina (With expensive medical and dental insurance) is having two teeth removed.. cost: $480. Please, someone, give me reasoning behind this. It makes me queezy. .(To check out more rants about crappy creepy insurance CLICK HERE!)

Yah, so... I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend... and please remember to remind me how bad my surgery will hurt.

Happy Turkey Day Turkeys!!

Happy Thanksgiving People!!! I know that it's the day after.. but I've sure been busy and haven't found time to blog. Quick recap.. Wednesday we had our first Thanksgiving at the house.. Scott did absolutely all of the cooking.. which was friggin fabulous! We had 12 guests and exactly 12 plates. God is looking out for us. Then yesterday we caught a matinee movie and hit up the mom's house for some leftovers. At around 8:00 we decided to leave for Atlanta a day early.. and POOF! Here we are, in the hotel room.. totally psyched for the big Shootout Competition that Scott will most definately win! EEK! Checkout time is in 32 minutes... and I'm blogging in my towel. Whoops. Gotta Jet! Wish us luck!

You mean OTHER people will eat my cooking!!??!

So, I'm gonna cook a turkey. I shouldn't be afraid, right? I mean, it's only a dead bird. And, the other 47 side dishes? Not terrifiying at all.. right?
Um... so, yeah, needless to say I just spent the last hour researching "Thanksgiving meals for dummies"... because I do believe that book was intended for me. I have never cooked a Thanksgiving, Christmas, Birthday, Easter, or hell.. ANY meal where someone other than me and one other person would be eating. This should be....interesting.

The food, I can probably handle.. I mean, the internet provides numorous websites for the terrible chef. (such as I) The real problem I have is the lack of kitchen utensils for such a massive feast. Such as: Scott and I have 3 bowls, and one of those bowls is plastic. We have a small dinning room table, that seats four. (Current head count for "the big meal" is eight, by the way) Not to mention the fact that it is already MONDAY!!

When all is said and done, I am actually pretty darn excited to ruin my first Thanksgiving meal. I know that there will probably be shells in the deviled eggs, strange mushy stuff in the turkey, an un-cooked something-er-other, "blackened" biscuits, and chunky gravy.. buy hey, I bet it will be damn good... food poisoning and all!

Oh! And, in honor of turkey day.. I am reminded of one of my favorite episodes of Friends... Enjoy!

*UPDATE: I was just informed that I would most likely have to thaw this turkey prior to cooking it for oh.. about 6 hours... and I have been steadily researching local restaurants that provide whole smoked or fried turkeys. I'm all about that. A coworker reminded me that her Grandmother always undercooks the turkey on turkey day.. turning it into an ooey-gooey-grossness. I don't wanna be one of those Grandmas.

Lunch Time Lunatics

It's lunch time here at the office. Typically, I go on my lunch break first, and then everyone else goes.. leaving me all by my lonesome.. to fiddle-faddle around. Sometimes I pop in Cinderella, sometimes I doodle, sometimes I color. Today, I'm blogging. Mainly because I already watched Cinderella today, and all of the crayons are broken into hundreds of itsy bitsy pieces. Yes, I get paid to do all of these things. No, you cannot have my job.

This time of day is usually my time of reflection... so I shall reflect:
This weekend was fabulouso! Chilly, but fabulous. Mr.Scott has been very busy with his music stuff...recording, sounding beautiful, photography, looking beautiful.. ya know, the usual. I had a nice amount of "Trina-time" on Saturday... which put me at the bookstore, the recycling center, and sleeping in past 8:00. (Not in that particular order) OOO! Speaking of recycling.. (my new hobby) you MUST check out this link of different ways to recycle BY MAIL. Yes, I said BY MAIL. Pretty nifty, if you ask me.

Also, as we all know, the holidays are fast approaching. Which means, that I have roughly 11 days to learn how to cook. Hopefully, I will have ordered my sissys cook book by then.. and can just follow her recipes. (Note to sissy: Must write cookbook that is strictly for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Thanks.) ;) (Oh.. and I should defintely be getting some sort of royalty check for mentioning your cook book in my blog?? no???)

By the way, I'm thinking of topics for MY future book:
- "How to play nice with four year olds, without becoming one"
- "Perfecting the art of tardyness"
- "How to successfully kill every plant in your office."
(Apparently I can only write how to or how NOT to books)

Seriously though, it's time to get back to work. Ta-ta for now!
